sans-serif;\">Voici plus de dix ans que\u00a0<i>Carmen<\/i>\u00a0n&#8217;\u00e9tait plus \u00e0 l&#8217;affiche \u00e0 l&#8217;Op\u00e9ra de Marseille. Voil\u00e0 chose faite et autant dire que les cinq repr\u00e9sentations affichaient complet depuis plusieurs semaines d\u00e9j\u00e0. Et pourtant ! Un d\u00e9luge de cris, de sifflets accueillit l&#8217;ouvrage pour sa cr\u00e9ation le 3 mars 1875 \u00e0 l&#8217;Op\u00e9ra-comique. Georges Bizet ne s&#8217;en remettra pas, ne verra jamais le succ\u00e8s plan\u00e9taire de son op\u00e9ra et mourut dans la nuit du 2 au 3 juin 1875 \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e2ge de 36 ans seulement. S&#8217;il eut d&#8217;horribles d\u00e9tracteurs, il eut aussi des soutiens, Vincent d&#8217;Indy, Camille Saint-Sa\u00ebns, Tcha\u00efkovski m\u00eame qui proph\u00e9tisait alors ; &#8220;Je suis persuad\u00e9 que dans 10 ans\u00a0<i>Carmen<\/i>\u00a0sera l&#8217;op\u00e9ra le plus populaire du monde entier. Certes, pas de revisite ni de d\u00e9tournement comme pour l&#8217;ouvrage pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 au Festival d&#8217;art lyrique d&#8217;Aix-en-Provence en 2017 dans une interpr\u00e9tation de Dmitri Tcherniakov. Rien que de tr\u00e8s classique ici mais, avec ce souci d&#8217;effacer le plus possibles les\u00a0<i>espagnolades<\/i>\u00a0nous nous retrouvons devant un spectacle assez terne o\u00f9 la flamboyance a \u00e9t\u00e9 gomm\u00e9e ; reste une certaine violence. Et pourtant, S\u00e9ville est la flamboyance de la lumi\u00e8re o\u00f9 le soleil est la premi\u00e8re des violences. Les lumi\u00e8res justement : celles de\u00a0<b>Laurent Castaingt<\/b>. Des lumi\u00e8res dor\u00e9es, plus ou moins sombres qui finissent par lasser, ou des couleurs bleut\u00e9es dans la taverne et dans la montagne au cr\u00e9puscule, anim\u00e9es par le feu des braseros. Ces lumi\u00e8res sont pr\u00e9sentes d\u00e8s l&#8217;ouverture car, c&#8217;est actuellement la mode, les ouvertures ne sont plus r\u00e9serv\u00e9es \u00e0 l&#8217;orchestre, \u00e0 son succ\u00e8s. Non ! Ici, donc, la sc\u00e8ne nous montre un r\u00e9sum\u00e9 de l&#8217;ouvrage sur la musique que l&#8217;on n&#8217;\u00e9coute plus.\u00a0<i>Carmen\u00a0<\/i>meurt,\u00a0<i>Don Jos\u00e9\u00a0<\/i>erre, se souvient du baiser de\u00a0<i>Carmen\u00a0<\/i>donn\u00e9 \u00e0\u00a0<i>Escamillo<\/i>&#8230; Nous savons donc tout, il ne nous resterait qu&#8217;\u00e0 partir. Le d\u00e9cor con\u00e7u par\u00a0<b>Rudy Sabounghi\u00a0<\/b>se veut original; deux grands panneaux convexes manipul\u00e9s \u00e0 vue investissent la sc\u00e8ne (r\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux ar\u00e8nes sans doute) au fond, un mur en pierre soutient une large porte coulissante, entr\u00e9e de la manufacture de tabac ou entr\u00e9e des ar\u00e8nes. Les vid\u00e9os de <b>Gabriel Grinda<\/b>\u00a0en projection sur le mur nous permettent de suivre la corrida. Quant \u00e0\u00a0<i>Carmen<\/i>, il faudra attendre la mise en sc\u00e8ne de Leo Muscato donn\u00e9e \u00e0 Florence en 2018 pour que ce soit\u00a0<i>Don Jos\u00e9<\/i>\u00a0qui tombe sous ses coups. Ce n&#8217;est certes pas le point de vue de Jean-Louis Grinda qui voit en\u00a0<i>Don Jos\u00e9<\/i>\u00a0un macho irascible, violent, incapable de supporter une rupture qui tue une jeune fille de 18 ans simplement coupable de tomber amoureuse un peu trop souvent et qui est tomb\u00e9e sur le mauvais num\u00e9ro (nous dit le metteur en sc\u00e8ne). Alors pourquoi ces poses lascives devant chaque homme, par innocence ou simple incoh\u00e9rence ? Les grands panneaux tournent, tournent&#8230; et occupent la sc\u00e8ne occultant les mouvements de la foule, la scindant en deux groupes statiques. Visuellement le troisi\u00e8me acte est sans doute le plus r\u00e9ussi. M\u00e9lange des genres avec des costumes assez h\u00e9t\u00e9roclites refl\u00e9tant l&#8217;\u00e9poque de la composition. Chapeaux melons et autres pour les hommes du ch\u0153ur ; les femmes, ayant troqu\u00e9 les \u00e9ventails contre des ombrelles de dentelle color\u00e9e nous donnent l&#8217;impression d&#8217;une promenade \u00e0 Deauville, bien loin d&#8217;une entr\u00e9e pour la corrida.\u00a0<b>H\u00e9lo\u00efse Mas\u00a0<\/b>est une\u00a0<i>Carmen\u00a0<\/i>tr\u00e8s investie. Du style, de l&#8217;allure, une grande compr\u00e9hension du personnage dans une belle voix appropri\u00e9e qui peut prendre des teintes tragiques. Une tr\u00e8s belle prestation vocale et sc\u00e9nique.\u00a0<b>Alexandra Marcellier<\/b>\u00a0pr\u00eate sa voix de soprano \u00e0\u00a0<i>Mica\u00ebla.\u00a0<\/i>Si elle para\u00eet un peu h\u00e9sitante aux premi\u00e8res notes, sa voix prend peu \u00e0 peu de l&#8217;assurance et c&#8217;est avec tendresse et fra\u00eecheur qu&#8217;elle nous propose un joli duo avec\u00a0<i>Don Jos\u00e9.<\/i>\u00a0Touchante aussi au troisi\u00e8me acte alors qu&#8217;elle chante &#8220;Je dis que rien ne m&#8217;\u00e9pouvante&#8230;&#8221; avec sensibilit\u00e9 et musicalit\u00e9 accompagn\u00e9e par un solo de cor au son velout\u00e9. Afflig\u00e9 d&#8217;une laryngite pendant les r\u00e9p\u00e9titions, il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re. Nous le retrouvons avec plaisir ce soir. Si les premi\u00e8res notes nous semblent peu assur\u00e9es, sa voix revient telle que nous l&#8217;avions entendue \u00e0 Toulon en 2019 alors qu&#8217;il interpr\u00e9tait\u00a0<i>Calaf\u00a0<\/i>(Turandot), une voix claire, vaillante et d&#8217;une grande cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9. La sinc\u00e9rit\u00e9 qu&#8217;il met dans son jeu module sa voix et lui donne une r\u00e9elle authenticit\u00e9. Amadi Lagha est ici un\u00a0<i>Don Jos\u00e9<\/i>\u00a0qui rend le r\u00f4le touchant, poignant ou path\u00e9tique avec de s\u00e9rieux moyens vocaux.\u00a0<b>Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Lapointe\u00a0<\/b>est un\u00a0<i>Escamillo\u00a0<\/i>\u00e0 la belle prestance et aux aigus g\u00e9n\u00e9reux. Si sa voix perd de son homog\u00e9n\u00e9it\u00e9 dans les changements de tessitures rendant la ligne musicale moins fluide et ses graves plus faibles, c&#8217;est avec beaucoup de fougue et d&#8217;investissement que le baryton qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois se glisse dans l&#8217;habit de lumi\u00e8re du tor\u00e9ador et prend le r\u00f4le \u00e0 bras le corps. Ch\u0153ur des voix mixtes et homog\u00e8nes pour une foule en liesse. Belle prestation des enfants de la Ma\u00eetrise des Bouches-du-Rh\u00f4ne pour leur engagement sc\u00e9nique et vocal.\u00a0<b>Victorien Vanoosten\u00a0<\/b>\u00e9tait \u00e0 la baguette r\u00e9ussissant \u00e0 canaliser l&#8217;\u00e9nergie contenue dans l&#8217;ouvrage. Les sonorit\u00e9s de l&#8217;Orchestre r\u00e9sonnent dans une belle homog\u00e9n\u00e9it\u00e9, celles des diff\u00e9rents pupitres de cordes avec l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 ou pour des envol\u00e9es plus lyriques, celles des trompettes pour des sonneries sonores ou le bel ensemble de la petite harmonie. Brillante ouverture remarquablement \u00e9crite et interpr\u00e9t\u00e9e.
