\n<\/strong>Ithink I’m pretty positive and happy!

\n<\/strong>Sometimes… I try not to learn about all the different superstitions different cultures have because I travel so much- I’d never be able to do *anything* without it being considered bad luck somewhere!
\nWhat did you dream to become as an adult when you were a child?
\n<\/strong>A hermit!
\nWhich are your favorite readings?
\n<\/strong>Children’s fantasy like the Wizard of Oz books, Narnia… and science fiction like Ray Bradbury and Isaac Asimov.\u00a0 Also humorous science fiction like the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy books by Douglas Adams.
\nWhich is the book you have loved the most so far?
\n<\/strong>There have been different books at various points in my life which have been important to me; I remember really loving Joseph Campbell’s “The Power of Myth”, and “Iron John” by Robert Bly.
\n<\/strong>Did your family influence your choices?
\n<\/strong>My family always gave me the opportunity of trying many different things; I had a great education through the public school system, and outside of that I had dance classes, violin and piano lessons, learned how to make pottery and stained-glass, went to music camp in the summers… I loved that!\u00a0 When it came time to make the decision to become a singer, I knew why I was doing it because I had tried so many other things.
\nWas music a vocation?
\n<\/strong>It was a hobby until I decided to study science… then it became clear that I really wanted to be a singer.
\nWhat\u2019s missing in your life today?
\n<\/strong>I miss my parents being so happy about the life I’m experiencing.
\nThe greatest disappointment?
\n<\/strong>Haven’t had one yet…!
\nWhich is your most cherished memory?
\n<\/strong>Personal or business?\u00a0 Personal would be the day I met my husband, business the first time I heard a baroque orchestra (Concerto K\u00f6ln) and I got to sing with them!
\n<\/strong>How important is money to you?
\n<\/strong>Fortunately I have never had to take a job for the money.\u00a0 The career is very expensive to maintain, as one is travelling all the time, etc. so of course if one is paid well, so much the better.\u00a0 However if a project is with someone I don’t feel I work well with, I won’t accept it no matter what the fee.
\nWhich is the item you like spending money on the most?
\n<\/strong>SHOES!!!!!
\nDo you collect anything?
\n<\/strong>My husband and I collect model frogs.
\nDo you have a recurrent dream? <\/strong>
\nNot anymore… I used to dream I could fly- that was fun!
\nWhat are you afraid of the most?
\n<\/strong>I’m pretty much at peace with my life, so I don’t feel I have any great fears.\u00a0 The most important thing for me is to enjoy each day and know that the people I love know that I love them.
\nWhich is your most ambitious dream? <\/strong>
\nTo take a month off for vacation some day!
\nThe moment you felt the proudest? <\/strong>
\nI don’t really feel proud of anything; I think I’m happy when I’m satisfied with a performance or a day well spent, then concentrate on doing the same or better with the next day.
\nYour biggest challenge? <\/strong>
\nRight now?\u00a0 Learning how to sing in Russian!!!!
\nWhat or who makes you feel embarrassed?
\n<\/strong>Coming from Alaska, I guess that would have to be Sarah Palin…
\n<\/strong>Which is the situation you consider the most relaxing?
\n<\/strong>I like the *idea* of lying on the beach with a margarita in my hand, but ultimately I guess I relax more when I’m out working in the garden.
\nYour favorite subject at school?
\n<\/strong>Choir, orchestra and big-band!
\n<\/strong>Favorite city?
\n<\/strong>Fairbanks, Alaska… followed by Paris, France.
\nFavorite color?<\/strong>
\nThat varies… green, blue, red…\u00a0
\n<\/strong>Favorite flower? <\/strong>
\nThe forget-me-not, Alaska’s state flower.
\nThe holiday or the trip you\u2019d like to take?<\/strong>
\nThe one I’m taking in August- halibut fishing in Alaska with my husband and my best friend!\u00a0

\n<\/strong>Day.
\nTell us your ideal day.
\n<\/strong>Steak for breakfast, 9 or 10 o’clock voice lesson, nap, shopping, internet surfing, bed.
\nW<\/strong>is your hideaway? <\/strong>
\nMy bedroom.
\nThe film you love the most?
\n<\/strong>Not really a film, but I love my DVD of Cirque du Soleil’s “Quidam”.\u00a0 Favorite movie… I guess the \u201cWizard of Oz\u201d.
\nYour favorite season? <\/strong>
\n<\/strong>Spring.
\nWhich is the place where cooking is the worst ever?
\n<\/strong>Any Italian restaurant outside of Italy.\u00a0 Period.
\nHow would you define your relation with food ?
\n<\/strong>Difficult.
\nYour favourite dish?
\n<\/strong>Steak.
\nThe dish you cook the best?
\n<\/strong>I make a good Tom Ka Gai soup, and also good Chicken Satay with Peanut sauce!
\nRed or white wine?
\n<\/strong>Red.
\nWhat\u2019s never missing in your refrigerator?
\n<\/strong>Apples.
\nWhat\u2019s your weakness in kitchen? <\/strong>
\nI don’t know how to prepare seafood.
\nWhat\u2019s the soundtrack to your life?
\n<\/strong>There are hundreds… mostly symphonic Dvorak, Bruckner, Mahler, Mozart, Beethoven… also musical theater like “Evita”, though I can’t listen to it without getting horribly depressed.
\nYour favourite singer?
\n<\/strong>Bobby McFerrin.
\nWhat would you want someone who doesn\u2019t know your voice to listen to?
\n<\/strong>Of mine?\u00a0 Probably my newest CD, “Pyrotechnics”- I’m very happy with that one!
\nHow did your voice change through the years and how do you take care of it, choosing the roles and the repertoire to perform?
\n<\/strong>I think it’s gotten a bit richer in color, and I know I’m more comfortable in the higher range than I ever was.\u00a0 I just try to keep the entire range even by vocalizing every day, and try to find my voice in all my roles rather than imitate anyone else.
\nIf you were granted the chance to chose a role, which one would it be?
\n<\/strong>I don’t know- there is so much repertoire out there that I don’t know yet- it always seems to find me when the time is right.
\nWhich is the first record you ever bought?
\n<\/strong>Abba The Album!!!!!
\nHow\u2019s your attitude towards TV ?
\n<\/strong>I use it to distract myself if I have too much music running through my brain, but then when I’m really enjoying concentrating on a project I won’t even turn on the TV for weeks.
\nWhat do you do an hour prior to go on stage?
\n<\/strong>Vocalize.
\nWhat\u2019s never missing in your dressing room?
\n<\/strong>Peanut butter!!!
\nWhat do you think of when looking at yourself in the mirror? <\/strong>
\nI like myself now- that wasn’t true when I was younger.
\nHow would you prefer to die ?
\n<\/strong>Quickly, painlessly, and knowing that the people I love know I love them.
