{"id":65645,"date":"2012-02-18T03:28:49","date_gmt":"2012-02-18T01:28:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gbopera.it\/?p=65645"},"modified":"2013-12-23T03:29:12","modified_gmt":"2013-12-23T01:29:12","slug":"no-make-up-maria-kousoni","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.studioroldo.it\/gbopera\/no-make-up-maria-kousoni\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;No Make-up!&#8221;&#8230;Maria Kousoni"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dancer\u00a0<strong>Maria Kousouni<\/strong>\u00a0is among the performers of the ballet<strong>\u00a0<em>Omaggio a Ravel<\/em>, a new production by Fondazione Arena di Verona <\/strong>based on<strong>\u00a0Maurice Ravel\u2019s music,<\/strong>\u00a0choreographer<strong>\u00a0Renato Zanella, at Teatro Filarmonico from 18th to 23th February 2012.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Maria\u00a0was born in Athens and started to dance when shw was sixnasce ad Atene e comincia a danzare all\u2019et\u00e0 di sei anni. She studied at the Despina Grigoriadou Dance Academy and got her diploma as teacher of the Vaganova method in 1998. Her career started in 1999 when, during the finale of the International Dance Competition in Paris, she was noticed by Renato Zanella, Ballet Director at Wiener Staatsoper Ballett, who immediately hires her for the dance company, of which she became soloist and in which she remained until 2004.\u00a0In 2001 she won the special prize at the Luxembourg International Ballet Competition.\u00a0After the success in the role of\u00a0 Audrey in\u00a0<em>As You like it<\/em>\u00a0by Neumeier, she became soloist of the Hamburg Ballett. In those years she performs choreographies by Neumeier,\u00a0symphonic ballets dedicated to Mahler\u2019s work and other choreographers\u2019 creations such as\u00a0<em>La Fille mal-gard\u00e9e<\/em>\u00a0by Ashton,\u00a0<em>La Bayad\u00e8re<\/em>\u00a0by Natalia Makarova,\u00a0<em>Polyphonia<\/em>\u00a0by Wheeldon,\u00a0<em>Unerreichbareorte<\/em>\u00a0by Ji\u0159\u00ed Bubenicek. In 2007 she prima ballerina of the Greek National Ballet and dances the roles of Anna 2 created for her in\u00a0<em>Seven Deadly Sins<\/em>\u00a0by Kim Brandstrup, Marina in\u00a0<em>Zorba il greco<\/em> by Massine,\u00a0<em>Paquita<\/em>\u00a0by Galina Samsova, Myrta in\u00a0<em>Giselle<\/em>\u00a0and Tatiana in\u00a0<em>Onegin<\/em>\u00a0by Irek Mukhamedov,\u00a0<em>Four last songs<\/em>\u00a0by Rudy Van Dansig, Medora in\u00a0<em>Il Corsaro<\/em>\u00a0by Petipa,\u00a0<em>Did you say Baroque?\u00a0<\/em>by Lommel,\u00a0<em>La Regina delle nevi\u00a0<\/em>by<em> <\/em>Ray Barra,<em>\u00a0Alles Walzer\u00a0<\/em>by Zanella. In 2011 Renato Zanella creates for her the choreographies for the tableau\u00a0<em>L\u2019Oiseau de feu<\/em>\u00a0taken from the <em>Omaggio a Stravinsky\u00a0<\/em>at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona and\u00a0<em>Medea\u2019s choice<\/em>\u00a0from the opera by Mikis Theodorakis for the Festival of the Aegean in Syros.<strong><br \/>\nWhich is the main feature of your personality?<\/strong><br \/>\nI insist until I succeed.<br \/>\n<strong>Your worst flaw? <\/strong><br \/>\nI am too honest!I say and I show exactly how I feel and I hide nothing!Sometimes is hard for people to accept my honesty\u2026but that&#8217;s me\u2026because I LOVE the truth!<br \/>\n<strong>Which is your star sign? <\/strong><br \/>\nAries.<br \/>\n<strong>Are you superstitious? <\/strong><br \/>\nNo, why should I?It&#8217;s not necessary\u2026isn&#8217;t it?<br \/>\n<strong>Are you a spiritual person? <\/strong><br \/>\nI am and I am happy that I am.<br \/>\n<strong>Have you ever envied someone? <\/strong><br \/>\nThat&#8217;s a feeling I never had cause I don&#8217;t find a reason to do so.I think it must be the worst you can feel cause I see people suffering from it\u2026<br \/>\n<strong>What did you dream to become as an adult when you were a child? <\/strong><br \/>\nGuess what!! I made my dream come true \u2026<br \/>\n<strong>Did your family influence your choices? <\/strong><br \/>\nYes, family is everything\u2026<br \/>\n<strong>Which is your most cherished memory? <\/strong><br \/>\nMany&#8230;<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0The moment you felt the proudest? <\/strong><br \/>\nThe moment I felt the proudest was when after a competition \u00a0I was offered my First contract with the Vienna State Opera Ballet from the main choreographer and Director R.Zanella without needing to give an audition.<br \/>\n<strong>The greatest disappointment? <\/strong><br \/>\nGreatest?Never had\u2026.but small and non so important \u2026yes\u2026.but small enough not to remember!<br \/>\n<strong>What\u2019s missing in your life today? <\/strong><br \/>\nMore hours a day, more dance, more art, more time with people I love\u2026.in general \u2026. I wish I could have more of the things that make me happy!<br \/>\n<strong>What are you afraid of the most? <\/strong><br \/>\nBeing without the people I love and love me.<br \/>\n<strong>How important is money to you? <\/strong><br \/>\nImportant as far you can have a comfortable life.I think other things are more valuable than money.<br \/>\n<strong>Which is the item you like spending money on the most? <\/strong><br \/>\nHahaha!The telephone bill!!!<br \/>\n<strong>Do you collect anything? <\/strong><br \/>\nOld items from the family.It can be anything\u2026anything that&#8217;s old and has history.<br \/>\n<strong>Which are your favorite readings? <\/strong><br \/>\nPhilosophy.<br \/>\n<strong>Which is your favorite perfume? <\/strong><br \/>\nThe one I wear\u2026 &#8220;elixir&#8221;.<br \/>\n<strong>Favorite city? <\/strong><br \/>\nNew York.<br \/>\n<strong>Favorite color? <\/strong><br \/>\nWhite.<br \/>\n<strong>Favorite flower? <\/strong><br \/>\nWhite roses.<br \/>\n<strong>Who is your favorite coreographer? <\/strong><br \/>\nThere are three \u2026 that I loved to work with them and they bring magic to their creations, to the dancers and to their public. John Neumeier, Renato Zanella and Jiri Killian.<br \/>\n<strong>Have you got a partner you remember in particular? <\/strong><br \/>\nI&#8217;ve danced with many partners in my career.Good chemistry is something that is natural between two people and everything works perfectly and pleasant.You can develop artistically and reach the highest results easily and having fun in the procedure. That moments came very often but is also something that is combined with the ballet you are dancing.I had favorite partners in each company I was and I have a favorite one now in the Greek National too!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong><br \/>\nYour favourite musical genre(s)? <\/strong><br \/>\nMy favorite type of music is Jazz.<br \/>\n<strong>Which is the first record you ever bought? <\/strong><br \/>\n&#8220;The smurfs&#8221;!&#8230;ahahaha.\u00a0 <strong><br \/>\nYour favorite season and why? <\/strong><br \/>\nI like all of them, I cannot say\u2026they are all so special.<br \/>\n<strong>How is your relationship with technology and which is the electronic gadget you can\u2019t do without? <\/strong><br \/>\nFor sure my handy!<br \/>\n<strong>How\u2019s your attitude towards TV ? <\/strong><br \/>\nNo time for TV&#8230;Sorry!\u00a0 <strong><br \/>\nDo you have causes that are very important for you? <\/strong><br \/>\nEverything that has to do with the children.<br \/>\n<strong>Day or night?<\/strong><br \/>\nDay and night.<br \/>\n<strong>Which is the situation you consider the most relaxing? <\/strong><br \/>\nFor sure when everything is perfect you can relax by doing anything!But the one for sure I enjoy the most is a nice bath and a nice dinner at home under the candle light.If it&#8217;s winter in front of the fireplace if it&#8217;s summer out in the garden.<br \/>\n<strong>Tell us your ideal day. <\/strong><br \/>\nSunday! So I miss nothing cause I enjoy the new experiences and cause I know I will be back!!!!\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>The holiday or the trip you\u2019d like to take? <\/strong><br \/>\nI&#8217;d love to go back to Ravello which I conceder the most beautiful place to be and to New York for once more.<br \/>\n<strong>What or who makes you feel embarrassed? <\/strong><br \/>\nRude people with no sense of art.<br \/>\n<strong>How would you define your relation with food ? <\/strong><br \/>\nLove affair.<br \/>\n<strong>Mediterranean diet, mocrobiotics or fast food? <\/strong><br \/>\nMediterranean absolutely.<br \/>\n<strong>Your favourite dish? <\/strong><br \/>\nAnything that comes from the sea with vegetables.<br \/>\n<strong>Red or white wine? <\/strong><br \/>\nRed and dry.<br \/>\n<strong>Which is the place where cooking is the worst ever? <\/strong><br \/>\nI don&#8217;t know yet and I hope I won&#8217;t!<br \/>\n<strong>Was dance a vocation? Or was it a discovery? <\/strong><br \/>\nI always felt dance was inside of me and as much as I can remember myself I always wanted to be a dancer.For me it&#8217;s part of who I am.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>What would you want someone who doesn\u2019t know you to watch? <\/strong><br \/>\nLet them choose!<br \/>\n<strong>The career of a dancer is one of the most fragile and the shortest ones: how do you follow the evolution of yours? <\/strong><br \/>\nI am happy of the things I did and they are my little treasure.I know is gonna end in\u00a0 a while but I am grateful of everything I did and with the people I worked with.<br \/>\n<strong>If you were granted the chance to chose a role to dance, which one would it be? Or which role would you like to be created for you? <\/strong><br \/>\nOf course there are things I would love to dance but important for a dancer is to have creations on him.
