Now that I have said it in the open, \u00a0I feel better.<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Which is your star sign?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Libra.\u00a0\u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Are you superstitious?<br \/>\n<\/strong>I can be very superstitious especially before performances.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Which are your favorite readings?<\/strong><br \/>\nI just revisited \u201cMoby Dick\u201d because of the new opera<em> Moby \u00a0Dick<\/em> composed by Jake Heggie, \u00a0with libretto by Gene Scheer , in which I was given the honor to sing the role of Greenhorn (Ishmael). \u00a0\u00a0The novel is a complete master piece which one can read again and again and each time find new relationships and more detail each time you do so. \u00a0I also love \u00a0\u201cThe Catcher in the Rye\u201d . I would be thrilled to play the character of Holden Caulfield in an opera one day, \u00a0if such is ever composed.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nWhich is the book you have loved the most so far?<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cThe Catcher in the Rye\u201d<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Did your family influence your choices?<br \/>\n<\/strong>My family didn\u2019t influence my choices, \u00a0\u00a0but truly encouraged them.I remember listening to my Uncle Tom in my Grandparent\u2019s basement playing the piano and rehearsing songs he was going to sing with his band later that week. \u00a0So I guess, \u00a0\u00a0in some way, \u00a0\u00a0that influenced me to become more interested in music. \u00a0I really always enjoyed both playing and listening to classical music.<br \/>\n<strong>Was music a vocation? <\/strong><br \/>\nYes, music was a vocation. \u00a0I believe we are all born to do something and for me it was to have a career in music. \u00a0I enjoy singing all types and would be very unhappy if I didn\u2019t have music in my life.\u00a0\u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>What\u2019s missing in your life today?<\/strong><br \/>\nChildren ! \u00a0I would love to have children, but with my career and my wife\u2019s as well, \u00a0it is not the right time at the moment. \u00a0\u00a0We will soon though. \u00a0I look forward to the day.<br \/>\n<strong>The greatest disappointment? <\/strong><br \/>\nMy greatest disappointment was not getting to really know my Grandfather Costello. \u00a0I know he was a great man, but he died when I was nine and I can only learn of him through family stories.<br \/>\n<strong>Which is your most cherished memory?<br \/>\n<\/strong>My wedding day.<br \/>\n<strong>How important is money to you? <\/strong><br \/>\nMoney is important in every household. \u00a0It isn\u2019t more important than family and happiness, but in reality we need money to help build better futures for our families. \u00a0\u00a0In my career if I have the chance to work with an outstanding conductor, \u00a0highly regarded artists or be part of an amazing creation like <em>Moby Dick,<\/em> then money comes second. \u00a0I will do everything I can to make it work. \u00a0It is important for me to have great artistic experiences. \u00a0Hopefully, the money will come later.<br \/>\n<strong>Which is the item you like spending money on the most? <\/strong><br \/>\nMy career. It costs a lot of money to travel back and forth and live in places for months at a time. \u00a0\u00a0Of course, like all men, \u00a0I enjoy electronics and cars, but I have to think of the future.<br \/>\n<strong>Do you collect anything?<\/strong><br \/>\nI collect movies. I love watching and buy movies. I can watch all of my movies over and over again. \u00a0I enjoy the talent and artistry of actors like Jimmy Stewart and Tom Hanks.<br \/>\n<strong>Do you have a recurrent dream? <\/strong><br \/>\nYes!!!! \u00a0That I am about to perform Tamino in <em>The Magic Flute<\/em> and I never learned it. \u00a0That usually means I need to get to work on something coming up.<br \/>\n<strong>What are you afraid of the most? <\/strong><br \/>\nDisappointing the people around me.<br \/>\n<strong>Which is your most ambitious dream? <\/strong><br \/>\nTo be in a movie;\u00a0 I have always dreamed of being in an Academy Award- winning film.<br \/>\n<strong>The moment you felt the proudest?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Watching my wife sing Juliette in Salzburg. \u00a0I will always remember that moment.<br \/>\n<strong>Your biggest challenge?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Saying No!<br \/>\n<strong>What or who makes you feel embarrassed? <\/strong><br \/>\nForgetting someone\u2019s name. \u00a0It is the worst feeling.<br \/>\n<strong>Which is the situation you consider the most relaxing?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Sitting on my couch watching movies. \u00a0That is relaxing.<br \/>\n<strong>Your favorite subject at school?<\/strong><br \/>\nMy favorite subject was always music. \u00a0I could connect with what we were discussing in class and I was always interested and never bored.<br \/>\n<strong>Favorite city?<\/strong><br \/>\nMy favorite city is Philadelphia. That is where my home and my family are. \u00a0It is also full of history and a one hour train ride to New York   City where I have many friends.<br \/>\n<strong>Favorite color? <\/strong><br \/>\nBlue.<br \/>\n<strong>Favorite flower?<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8220;Birds of Paradise&#8221;.<br \/>\n<strong>The holiday or the trip you\u2019d like to take?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Walt Disney World. \u00a0It is the happiest place in the world! I would also like to visit Egypt as I really want to see the Pyramids up close.<br \/>\n<strong>Day or night?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Night.<br \/>\n<strong>Which is your hideaway? <\/strong><br \/>\nSitting in a movie theater all day watching films and keeping my phone turned off.<br \/>\n<strong>The film you love the most?<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>\u201cMr. Smith Goes to Washington\u201d<\/em> . Jimmy Stewart is amazing in that film. \u00a0What a brilliant display of acting !<br \/>\n<strong>Your favorite season?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Summer! \u00a0I love swimming and having BBQ\u2019s with family and friends.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>How would you define your relation with food ?<br \/>\n<\/strong>A love and hate relationship. \u00a0I love food and can easily overeat, which makes my body hate me the next day.<br \/>\n<strong>Your favourite dish?<br \/>\n<\/strong>It\u2019s a toss up between pizza or cheeseburgers.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>The dish you cook the best?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Steak on the grill. I love to grill and have friends over to share it with.<br \/>\n<strong>Red or white wine?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Red.\u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>What\u2019s never missing in your refrigerator? <\/strong><br \/>\nDiet Coke! \u00a0Everyone has an addiction and mine is Diet Coke.<br \/>\n<strong>What\u2019s your weakness in kitchen?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Eating the food as I am cooking. \u00a0\u00a0I always fill up while cooking, \u00a0\u00a0so that\u00a0 after everything is ready to be served, \u00a0I am no longer hungry.<br \/>\n<strong>Your favourite singer?<br \/>\n<\/strong>I have many favorites: \u00a0\u00a0Luciano Pavarotti, \u00a0Franco Corelli, \u00a0Jussi Bj\u00f6rling, Frank Sinatra, Dave Matthews. I could go on for hours, \u00a0but I will stop there.<br \/>\n<strong>How did your voice change through the years and how do you take care of it, choosing the roles and the repertoire to perform?<br \/>\n<\/strong>My voice is getting fuller and more rounded. \u00a0I take care of it by getting enough rest and taking care of myself and my body, and not being too busy while I am in rehearsal or performing . \u00a0\u00a0As someone once told me, \u00a0just because you can sing a role, \u00a0it does not mean you should. \u00a0It is important to choose the roles that will help your voice grow and be strengthened, \u00a0while also teaching yourself how to keep the technique solid.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>If you were granted the chance to choose a role, which one would it be?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Rom\u00e9o <em>in Rom<\/em><em>\u00e9<\/em><em>o et \u00a0Juliette<\/em> which \u00a0I could sing at the drop of a hat and Otello which I will probably never sing,\u00a0 but I can dream, can\u2019t I ??\u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Which is the first record you ever bought? <\/strong><br \/>\nMichael Jackson\u2019s \u00a0\u201cThriller\u201d.<br \/>\n<strong>How\u2019s your attitude towards TV ?<br \/>\n<\/strong>I love TV. \u00a0It gives you a chance to zone out and not think of anything for a little while. \u00a0It lets your mind relax after a long day.\u00a0\u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>What do you do an hour prior to going on stage? <\/strong><br \/>\nWarm up and stretch the voice.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>What\u2019s never missing in your dressing room? <\/strong><br \/>\nWater. \u00a0I always have to have enough water.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>What do you think of when looking at yourself in the mirror? <\/strong><br \/>\nHow much gray hair is starting to show! I am just kidding. I often look in the mirror and think how lucky I am to be in this career.<br \/>\n<strong> <\/strong><strong>How would you prefer to die ?<br \/>\n<\/strong>I would love to die as Rom\u00e9o died, in the arms of my love.<br \/>\n<strong> <\/strong><strong>Your mood at the moment?<br \/>\n<\/strong>I am tired. I have been on the plane for eight hours on the way to Berlin and I need to stretch my legs and get some sleep. \u00a0However, I have another hour until I land and then a four hour layover in Zurich\u00a0to be followed by another two hour flight to Berlin. \u00a0\u00a0So I guess you can imagine my mood.<br \/>\n<strong> <\/strong><strong>What\u2019s your motto?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Keep on dreaming and let nothing get in the way of your goal. My father-in- law always says we are not lost, \u00a0it is all part of the tour. \u00a0I agree 100%.
